Their flared bell shaped end helps guide the plug during insertion and prevents the plug from being inserted too deep into the ear canal while allowing it to be quickly and easily removed when necessary. The high contrast orange color of the plugs provides improved visibility to aid in ensuring workplace compliance. To help keep them from being misplaced when used in areas and situations that require them to be removed and reinserted often, each plug is tethered to the other with a PVC-free polypropylene plastic cord. These earplugs have been tested in accordance with ANSI Standard S3.19-1974 and achieved a 33 dB Noise Reduction Rating.
