Chimarro is a style of Yerba Mate and a local favorite in Rio Grande do Sul (a state in southern Brazil). The composition of the leaf is in the form of a powder, unlike the full leaves of the traditional Yerba Mate. The powdered consistency provides a creamy texture to the brew. The Chimarro Ritual In Brazil, the drinking of Yerba Mate is practiced as a social ritual. Friends and family gather in a circle as the host prepares the beverage in a cuia (gourd) and drinks the first infusion with a filtered straw called a bomba or bombilla. The cuia is refilled and passed to each guest in the circle. Everyone shares the same cuia and bomba joining in a bond of acceptance and friendship. Aprenda aqui como preparar um saboroso chimarro! 1) Preencher a cuia (recipiente) com 2/3 de erva-mate para chimarro. 2) Tapar a cuia e inclin-la ao ponto de encostar a erva-mate num lado. Pode-se utilizar um aparador, prato ou at mesmo as prprias mos para tapar a cuia. 3) Na parte vaga voc deve colocar a gua morna (apenas para comear seu chimarro). Colocando gua morna voc no queima a erva-mate e no deixa seu chimarro amargo. Nas demais cuias a gua correta aquela que chia na chaleira ou 64C, sem deix-la ferver. 4) Tape a boca da bomba com seu dedo polegar e coloque-a dentro da cuia descendo-a rente sua parede, para que no fique ao meio da erva e no tranque seu chimarro. Se a gua descer aps voc retirar o dedo da bomba, seu chimarro estar pronto. 5) Agora s falta saborear o delicioso chimarro. Se preferir use um filtro para a bomba. O filtro impede o entupimento da bomba, desta forma voc se concentra unicamente em apreciar o sabor do chimarro.
